"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious." Albert Einstein

STELLAR JOURNEY presents an exciting introduction to many of the incredible discoveries achieved by NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory and the Hubble Space Telescope. The game presents a simulated portrayal of stellar birth, life, and death, while imposing no penalties such as losing one’s next turn, forfeiture of mass or time, etc. An accompanying instructional booklet includes the rules of play, applicable National Science Education Standards, instructional objectives, charts for maintaining records of game cards completed, and more.

STELLAR JOURNEY may be played in the classroom or in the home to review and extend participants’ knowledge of stellar evolution through a challenging small group experience. The game offers four levels of difficulty so players of like or different ages and abilities may join together for play.  Suggested for ages 12 and above.

Questions are written at four levels of difficulty. Each of sixty cards features five questions for a total of 300. A sample question from each level follows:

Level 1: A white dwarf is an infant star. FALSE

Level 2: In what part of the Sun are hydrogen nuclei fused to helium nuclei? CORE

Level 3: What property of a star determines its evolutionary history? MASS

Level 4: The age of a star cluster is indicated by which stars have evolved off the main sequence. TRUE
